Daniel and Linda Smith, owners and operators of Good Knights Entertainment Ltd, have both been actively involved in medieval reenactment for 15-plus years. They also love to travel, movies, music, reading, playing board games, and nature. They have 2 Golden Retrievers and several cats. Daniel & Linda have had a long held interest in all things medieval dating back to a high school trip to England and Wales. They decided to develop the site (on land that they own and live on) into a medieval-themed “clamping” (‘glamorous camping’) tourism destination.
Good Knights Medieval opened its gates in June 2017 with a few tents and a plan to make this a world-class destination. The venue is unique in North America and, probably, in the world. Glamping is one of the fastest growing tourism sectors in the world, but the Good Knights site is the only one offering ‘medieval themed’ glamping in North America. What truly set Good Knights apart is the activities and experiential part of the stay. We have recently been recognized as being one of the top and most unique glaming venues in North America, and we will be featured in an upcoming book on glamping sites. We were also recognized by the International Gammping Association.
Good Knights offers high quality glamping in our large medieval-styled tents. Tents have wooden floors, comfy beds, electricity, en-suite ‘throne rooms’, and antique furniture. Breakfast is included, as are all on-site activities – such as longbow archery, craft workshops, sword fighting class, and yard games. A medieval feast is included for guests staying on Saturday night. Our medieval feasts are open to the public once a month, but tickets must be purchased in advance. We also offer group bookings for family reunions, anniversaries, birthday parties, and small weddings.
We added more tents in 2017 and again in 2018, as well as opening our Great Hall for feasts in 2018. Now we are developing our first Burrow – underground accommodation for fans of the ‘Hobbit’.
